We provided blue and red decor lighting that went with the Hollywood theme of the dance. This age is so much fun because they just want to have fun. They were excited to play games, dance and be silly for prizes. We did two rounds of a game called the balloon man with boys against girls. It involves two teams blowing up and stuffing twenty balloons inside of an XXXL jump suit that one of the kids is wearing. The “balloon boy/girl” then has to run across the room and back and high-five the DJ. It was absolutely hilarious. The other game is a styrofoam cup stacking game in their socks. This also is a very entertaining game as the kids slip and slide around the room trying to run and stack their team’s cups, one at a time. This was a great group of kids and everyone involved did a phenomenal job making this a very special night for these soon to be junior-highers. Congratulations Class of 2017!!!

Arroyo Grande High School used this facility for their 2011 Prom. This was the first time since 1992 that they moved the prom from a tent on the beach. It turned out to be an awesome move! The theme was “Magic Carpet Ride” with an Aladdin theme and colors of purple and gold. The prom committee created several wooden stand up props to coincide with this theme. We provided purple decor lighting on the scenery props and walls along with accenting certain areas with an amber candle light glow. We also put on a great programmed light show with all of our dance floor lighting which included the moving heads and lasers. With close to 700 students in attendance the vibe was electric and the students were excited about the new location, decor and graduating in a few short weeks. The kids even got one of their ASB directors, Mrs. Shannon Hurtado out there dancing with them. We had a great time playing the music, getting everyone jumping and just having fun. Congratulations to the class of 2011.

The students who attend the dances are always polite, respectful and appreciate the work that is put into every dance. They have a ton of energy and just want to have a great time. There are quite a few talented dancers among the students. They are always easy to find; you just need to look at the circles that evolve around them as they show their moves. The crowd lets the dancers know when they pull off a great move with their yelling and screaming. We look forward to the next dance at A.G.H.S. Go Eagles!

We now have some awesome and versatile moving head lights that we’re using at our events. There are several colors and gobos programmed within the lights; the possibilities are endless. These lights offer a professional and impressive addition to much more than just the dance floor. We programmed the lights to spot light a cake in white and color-wash a fountain in fuchsia from a balcony at Eos Estate Winery. We also programmed them using one of the internal gobos to cover a portion of the ceiling and wall in a room with slowly rotating stars with a red background at Madonna Inn‘s Expo Center. Again, the possibilities are endless and these are only a few of the options that are available with these high-tech lights.

Below are two videos of the lights on audio moving to the beat of the music at The Dana-Powers Barn.

This was a fun and exciting night for everyone involved, including us. As we drove up, we saw a banner on butcher paper with words written in poster paint advertising the dance for tonight. One of the lines read, “Live DJ and fog!!!” We knew right then and there that this was going to be a good night. There were over 300 junior high kids in attendance in a very warm and humid (about 90 degrees!) gymnasium at Paulding Middle School. This didn’t stop them from dancing, jumping around, screaming and just having a genuinely fun time. We brought several lights and a smoke machine. The kids were mesmerized by the smoke coming out of the machine and the cool effect the rainbow lights had going through it. They put their faces in it, danced and jumped around through the center of the beams. It was enjoyable to see them excited and having a good time.

I started off the day promoting the dance during the high school’s lunch period by providing music. Some of the students contributed by performing a few dance routines, and the Paso High Bearcats Mascots made an appearance. The Mascots danced around, rallied the students and got everyone pumped up for the big game. It turned out to be an exciting and nail biting game. The Paso High School Bearcats hosted the San Luis Obispo Tigers in a Varsity Basketball game and won the game by 1 point with less then 3 seconds on the clock. The victory was soon celebrated on the dance floor. The defeat of the Tigers really enhanced the energy throughout the night. Although the dance attendance was lower then expected, the students in attendance had a blast.

We look forward to hopefully going back soon. There was between 200 to 300 students celebrating their Homecoming against Arroyo Grande High School. The aromas of pizza and the chocolate fountain filled the gymnasium at Flamson Middle School. The students of PRHS were very helpful, well mannered and appreciative kids and had many song requests to fill the night. The students were even featured on the 11:00 news of KCOY. Mitch Massey and his crew filmed portions of the football game and dance and welcomed in the Homecoming court in live time on TV. Mitch even got out on the dance floor and boogied with some of the high schoolers. It was an exciting night on many levels.

The youthful energy of the teenagers is contagious for everyone in the room. The administration was only expecting 300 to 400, but close to 600 kids ended up attending and participating in this Homecoming Dance. It was such a rush to see nearly 600 kids facing the stage and clapping their hands in unison to the “Cha Cha Slide” and screaming and yelling out of excitement to the thrills of the evening, which included all the kids singing “Happy Birthday” to one of the candidates of the Homecoming court. There’s nothing like getting caught up in the moment of the fun of the high school spirit, even if it’s only for a few hours on a Saturday night.

Kids always bring loads of laughs, and this group of 6th graders were respectful, a hoot to be around and so much fun! After their graduation ceremony, it was all fun and games. I started them off with a few group dances and moved into a cup stacking relay race, which isn’t nearly as easy as it sounds since the cups were made of styrofoam and the floors were linoleum. Any teeny tiny gust of air sent the cups tumbling as the kids slip-slided all over the floor. We finished off with a “balloon man” race. This was the most entertaining of the two games. There wasn’t a dry eye around as two 6th graders did their best to make their way from one end of the room to the other in a quadruple X long underwear jumpsuit stuffed with balloons. I can’t think of a better way to finish off the elementary years and jump start into junior high!
